LONDON’S FLOATING RECORDING STUDIO

A 550 tonne lightship converted into a solar powered recording studio

Once a beacon in treacherous seas, Lightship 95 is now securely moored on the River Thames and converted into a first-class London recording studio. It features a surprisingly large 10m x 5m live room with spacious vocal booth, and a huge air-conditioned control room that benefits from natural light and extensive acoustic treatment built deep into the steel hull. The live room is extremely versatile, capable of accommodating anything from larger jazz ensembles through delicate string sessions to thunderously heavy rock and metal.

The control room features 64 channels of I/O to Pro Tools, ATC SCM45a Pro Monitors, Calrec S2 48 channel console, Otari MTR 90 2” tape machine and a selection of classic outboard providing ample tracking options for any recording session. Our unique collection of vintage instruments is always available at no extra cost. 13 solar panels on the roof make the ship a sustainable choice for your next recording project.

Recorded here for 4 days with my string quartet - Ligeti Quartet. A wonderful experience. The room was a perfect size and great acoustic for recording some very difficult music. Dave and Giles were great engineers and so accommodating. Great equipment and convenient location too! I highly recommend working here.
