Room to stretch out

The spacious control room and generous vocal booth of Lightship 95 have made our London recording studio a popular choice for vocal recording sessions with some of the world’s finest rappers, singers & producers. The studio has been host to sessions with rappers and artists from the worlds of hip hop, grime and drill, with Loyle Carner, Digga D, SL, Mike Skinner, Sampa the Great, AJ Tracey, Kojey Radical, Jimothy Lacoste coming through in recent years.

A powerful monitoring setup with ATC SCM25a’s and a Genelec subwoofer means that you can feel the bass without being decieved. Several world-class vocal chains are available, with microphones from Neumann, Manley & RCA, pre-amps from Neve & API and analogue outboard compressors including the Universal Audio 1176 and Empirical Labs Distressor.

We rarely take photographs during these sessions - it can be a distraction. Fortunately Vice were on board recently to shoot a documentary about the making of Mike Skinner’s mixtape, which you can view below.
